This is a beautiful vintage Chinese bamboo sewing basket. It is 3 1/4" tall x 8 1/2" in diameter, and in pretty good condition. The colors on bottom are darker than the top which is common with old baskets, the bottom being more protected from light. The inside is a pinkish colored reed while the outside is dark bamboo with green, red and brown paint or stain with a twill pattern at the center. Some of the bamboo wrapping which attaches the red rim on the basket bottom has come apart, please study photos carefully!
